Welcome to the 2007 Sail Melbourne Olympic and Invited Classes regatta – ‘the Asia Pacific Regatta’. As one of only five annual ISAF Grade 1 events held each year for all the Olympic classes and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere, the Asia Pacific Regatta’ is the equivalent of the Australian Open to Tennis or the Melbourne Grand Prix to Formula 1.

Sail Melbourne is well known around the world for:
  • the exciting sailing on Port Phillip with regular sea breezes
  • the professionalism of our Race Management Teams
  • the competitive fleets of local and international sailors across the Olympic Classes
  • the excellent host club facilities
  • the friendliness and atmosphere with which the event is conducted

Sail Melbourne is the pinnacle event in a series of Olympic Class Regattas held in Australia and New Zealand running from December 2006 – February 2007, so provides the perfect opportunity for a summer of training and racing during the Northern Hemisphere’s winter or the peak event of the Australian sailing calendar.

Sail Melbourne provides a range of initiatives and assistance for competitors to make their attendance as easy, cost effective and enjoyable as possible including:
  • assistance for teams wishing to ship their containers to Australia through regatta sponsors Schenker Australia
  • logistical assistance handling containers, moving boats around the country and contacts for charter boats
  • discount homestay accommodation program for sailors to stay with locals in their homes
  • on shore entertainment and sailor functions
  • training seminars and plenty of links and tourism ideas if you take a day off!

In 2007 schedule of events for the Olympic and Invited Classes Regatta includes:
  • Olympic and Paralympic Classes racing: January 15th - 20th 2007.
  • Invited Youth and feeder classes (Laser 4.7, 420 Dinghy, 29er) racing: January 16th - 20th 2007.
  • Invited International Classes (OK Dinghy and Tasar) racing: January 18th – 20th 2007
