Sabots are a terrific boat in which to learn to sail. With one sail, basic boat handling skills and tactics are refined before sailors graduate to the intermediate sailing classes where they learn about the other sails and how to use them best. The Sabot is 8' in length, 4' in beam and is cat rigged with 36 sq ft of sail. It is very easy and economical to build: the simplicity of rigging and light-weight of hull enables easy transportation. The Australian Championships will be one of the biggest junior sailing events ever held in Victoria with over 200 boats expected to take part.
