Event Profile

2nd Pacific Rim and Open International Optimist Dinghy Championships

Event Flyer

The waters off Mornington Yacht Club on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula provide the ideal conditions for Optimist sailors. With testing conditions for the more advanced sailors and a sheltered bay for those in the green fleet along with flat water, regular sea breezes, beach launching, close course areas and of course lovely warm weather it’s the perfect location.

Mornington Yacht Club will again be playing host to the Optimists. In 2007 there were sailors from six countries including Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand. With the word out that it’s on again we are expecting more sailors from more countries

International competitors don’t have to worry about shipping a boat to Melbourne as you there are low cost charter boats available through Ozi Opti, so bring yourself, your parents and your other sailing friends and come and join what is sure to be a great fun event at one of Melbourne’s great yacht clubs experienced in hosting junior and youth sailing events.

Along with this event sailors can compete in the Australian Optimist Championship 6th – 10th January, running as part of the OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship, and there’s no need to worry about having to move to different accommodation as this event is 10 minutes drive away at Frankston Yacht Club.
